The brewery is busy this month! We are finally serving our very own beer and are pleased to add a West Coast IPA and a Kolsch to the mix! In addition, we are bubbling over with events this month. In the taproom and beer garden, we’re hosting Music Bingo, the Naked Empanada Food Truck, Unita Yoga, a Sip & Shop Artisan Market, and another blood drive coinciding with Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) Awareness Day! Not only that, we’ve been invited to participate in the 2023 Bull City Food and Drink Experience at DPAC! Read on to learn details about everything going on around here.
West Coast IPA
It’s no secret that clean and crushable modern West Coast IPAs are one of our favorite styles. Lighter color with more restrained bitterness than the IPAs we grew up on but just as flavorful. New hopping methods and advanced hop products are at play here to seek good flavor attributes and leave behind the bad ones. This one is juicy up front with tropical notes from Citra and Mosaic Cryo followed by a dry finish and dank edge from Strata CGX hops. 7.8% ABV
Kolsch
The classic light and crisp German ale drinks like a lager but with unique stone fruit, salt cracker and chalky aromas you only find in Kolsch. Brewed with Barke Pilsner malt, Tettnang hops and one of our favorite yeast strains to brew with (it’s Kolsch yeast). Mashed with four enzymatic temperature rests, we used this clean and simple recipe to test our automated step mashing program on the new brewhouse! 4.5% ABV.

Join us for Music Bingo hosted by Top Shelf Trivia! It will be an amazing night full of music, prizes, and drink specials at Blackbird Brewery! Test your music knowledge and compete against your friends and other patrons. It’s easy to play, and everyone is welcome!
March 9th
Naked Empanada Food Truck
Join us Thursday, March 9th and fill your bellies with an order from our favorite empanada truck! On site from 5-8pm, this will be a limited-edition food truck run since the restaurants nearby are gearing up to open soon.
March 12th
Unita Yoga at Blackbird
Join us for a one-hour flow followed by a light lunch provided by Rebekah and a wide variety of cold beverages to enjoy from the menu! Cost is $15 and space is limited; register via Eventbrite to secure your spot today! All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Mats and blocks available.
2023 Bull City Food and Beer Experience
Join us March 12th at Durham Performing Arts Center for the 2023 Bull City Food and Beer Experience! This year, the event features thirty Triangle-area restaurants and breweries, including Blackbird Brewery, spread throughout all three DPAC floors featuring unlimited samplings and the Harris Onstage Experience showcasing live music and a variety of local food vendors. This event is a fundraiser benefiting the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

Grab a beer and peruse over a dozen local artisan vendors from 1-7 pm in our lovely outdoor beer garden. Enjoy live entertainment from Mike Edwards & Robert Turner while you shop from 1-4 pm. Then starting at 5 pm, Cape Fear Seafood Company will be onsite with FREE steamed oysters. First come, first serve!
