Though we were excited to open the taproom, and thrilled to share our recent collabs with you, we have been waiting what feels like our whole life to release Blackbird Brewery’s very first beer brewed in our Wake Forest brewery. We are thrilled to officially announce…the first batch of beer is officially on tap! When co-owner Harmony VanGundy was asked how it felt, she replied that it feels really good to see Ian (her husband, co-owner, and head brewer at Blackbird Brewery), be able to do his own thing the way he wants to. She continued, “For the first time, he can curate his own portfolio. He can just sit down and be creative. I am really excited to see what he can do without restraints.”
Our first beer is an American IPA called “Batch #1.” It is brewed with Citra incognito and Mosaic cryo early fermentation followed by a big dose of Strata, Mosaic, and Mosaic cryo for a second dry hop. This American IPA is light, dry, dank and citrus all in one. 7.0%ABV We know you are going to love it; stop by our Wake Forest taproom to be one of the first people to try it! Harmony summed it up best when she said, “Seeing Ian happy makes me happy.” We suspect it will make you all happy too!
