June Events: Sun, Suds, & Summer Vibes

Harmony and Kenne i in Blackbird SwagSummer’s rolling in hot, and we’re kicking it off with cold beer and a toast to the legends—DADs. Whether he’s king of the grill, master of the dad joke, or just your everyday hero, Father’s Day at Blackbird Brewery is all about good vibes and great company. Think fresh-shucked oysters, acoustic jams, and a $6 beer on special to keep things flowing.

From there, June doesn’t let up. We’re throwing a tiki-themed anniversary bash for Bird’s Nest at Blackbird—our way of saying thanks for an incredible first year. Expect DJ Al-Ski Love on the turntables, a cabaret performance with Miss Candice, good eats, and plenty of tropical flair to go around.

Whether you’re sipping your new favorite brew or soaking up the sun on the patio, summer at Blackbird Brewery is all about bold flavors, chill beats, and unforgettable moments. Here’s to the dads, the memories, and the good times ahead!

What’s Tappening: June Beer Releases

Pouring beer in the beer garden We’ve been hard at work in the brew lab—tweaking hop combos, dialing in dry hops, and building bold new flavor profiles made for the summer spotlight. The results? Fresh, creative, and unapologetically crushable. These aren’t just new beers—they’re victory laps in a glass, and they’re on tap now. Let’s pour into what’s new on tap:

Crossfade – Hazy IPA: Back in 2020—before Blackbird Brewery was born—brewers Ian and Mikey were chasing the perfect hazy IPA, built around their favorite hops: Australian Vic Secret and Idaho 7. Both bring bold pineapple notes, but depending on the crop, can lean dank and piney. Years later, with more experience and a standout lot of Idaho 7 in hand, they revisited the combo with confidence—and nailed it. The result is a big, bold hazy with layered tropical flavors, dialed-in dry hopping, and spot-on balance.

Hard In The Paint – Thiolized Hazy IPA: Using a specialized yeast strain that transforms malt and hop compounds into explosive tropical aromas (think NZ Sauvignon Blanc levels of intensity), we built this beer to showcase that transformation. From mash hopping to the addition of Sauvignon Blanc grape skins in the kettle, every step was designed to boost thiol expression. The result is a next-gen haze bomb, dry hopped with Neomexicanus Sabro and Krush Cryo to deliver bold flavors that didn’t even exist five years ago.

Agent 003 – Hazy IPA: Always experimenting, we built Agent 003 around HRC-003—an up-and-coming experimental hop variety known for bright orange and mango aromatics. This hazy IPA drinks a bit drier than some of our others, offering crisp citrus refreshment with high drinkability. It’s the perfect warm-weather sipper for those who like their haze on the lighter, juicier side without sacrificing complexity.

15th Street Del Mar – West Coast IPA: Inspired by the surf culture and crystal-clear IPAs of San Diego, 15th Street Del Mar brings that beachside energy to the glass. This West Coast IPA is clean, crisp, and dry with a punchy bitterness that never overstays its welcome. A fresh trio of Strata, Idaho 7, and Citra hops deliver citrusy brightness with a piney backbone—perfect for anyone chasing that classic SoCal hop profile.

Pour Some Cake On It Milk StoutPour Some Cake On It – Milk Stout: Dessert in a glass. Pour Some Cake On It is a coffee cake-inspired milk stout brewed with Sunny Days Papua New Guinea coffee, Saigon cinnamon, Madagascar vanilla beans, and a touch of fluffy white cake extract for good measure. The result is rich, roasty, and sweet—like a morning pastry and your favorite stout got together for a late-night hangout. Contains lactose.

Mildin’ Out – Dark Mild / Brown Ale: Low ABV, high character. Mildin’ Out is our take on the classic English mild, brewed with Maris Otter malt and a thoughtful blend of dark crystal, chocolate wheat, and rye malts. The flavor is toasty, slightly sweet, and smooth with a medium body that makes it perfect for session sipping. It’s the kind of beer you can crush all day without sacrificing depth.
