Blackbird Brewery is proud to partner with Wake Forest FUNGO, the town’s beloved collegiate summer wood‑bat baseball team, to celebrate the grand reopening of Flaherty Park—a cherished community space that’s just undergone a major transformation.
Thanks to a shared vision between FUNGO, the Town of Wake Forest, and dedicated local supporters, Flaherty Park has been completely reimagined for the ultimate fan experience. This isn’t just a ballpark refresh—it’s a full-on upgrade designed to bring the community together for unforgettable summer nights under the lights.
A Grand Slam Renovation
With major improvements now complete, fans can enjoy:
- Real dugouts and revamped bullpens
- Enhanced seating and expanded shaded areas
- ADA-compliant stairs, ramps, walkways, and fencing
- A fully gated, beautifully landscaped mezzanine
- And a show-stopping brick backstop that gives every inning a major league vibe
But it’s not just the field that got a glow-up. A brand-new concession stand, along with upgraded sound and camera systems, means better food, better music, and better coverage—all adding to an immersive, energetic game-day atmosphere.
A Big Win for Wake Forest
This $944,000 investment—led by the Town’s Parks & Rec team—is a bold step forward in creating a top-tier recreational venue that serves the entire community. As Discover Wake Forest aptly put it, Flaherty Park is now a “crown jewel among the Town’s park and recreational facilities,” improving quality of life for residents and drawing in visitors from across the region.
Blackbird Brews at the Ballpark
This isn’t just a logo on a banner—it’s a true hometown collaboration. In 2023, Blackbird Brewery and FUNGO worked together to help change a Town ordinance, making FUNGO the first private organization approved to sell beer in a public Wake Forest park. That means Blackbird brews aren’t just available at Flaherty Park—they’re part of a groundbreaking moment in local history.
