If you’ve ever found yourself laughing a little louder or lingering a little longer at the bar, there’s a good chance Brad Curry was behind it—serving up beer, cracking jokes, and delivering the kind of easygoing energy that makes Blackbird feel like home.
From Fan to Fixture
Originally from Pennsylvania, Brad made his way down the East Coast—first to Florida, where he met his wife, and eventually to Wake Forest, NC, where they’ve lived for the past 10 years. He’s been married to his wife Traci for 21 years and is a proud dad to a 17-year-old daughter and a 27-year-old son, with a wild cat named Ozzy ruling the roost.
Off the clock, Brad is all about good times, great beer, and even better company. His garage is something of a legend—outfitted with five TVs streaming every game imaginable, a kegerator stocked with Blackbird brews, and a permanent 80s/90s rock playlist that would make any hair band proud. Add in a comfy chair and a cigar, and you’ve got Brad in his happy place. During football season, the space turns into Bears headquarters, where friends and fans alike gather to watch the game, share a few laughs, and—inevitably—yell at the refs.

Brad is also known for his collection of T-shirts with hilariously off-color quips, his impressive collection of mullet wigs, and a total lack of fear when it comes to dressing up for theme nights. If there’s a costume involved, he’s in—probably first. Behind the bar, Brad is one of the hardest-working team members we’ve got—and the kind of guy who can keep things running smoothly while still making everyone feel like they’re part of the party. And if Blackbird had a trophy for “Most Likely to Start a Party”? Brad would win it in a landslide.
Before he ever poured a pint behind the bar, Brad was a Blackbird Brewery regular. He kept coming back for the beer, the people, and the vibe—until he officially joined the team a year and a half ago. Since then, he’s become an essential part of the Blackbird experience. With his humor, warmth, and welcoming energy, Brad has a way of turning first-timers into regulars and regulars into friends.
Behind the Brew: Brad’s Turn at the Tap
This month, Brad is stepping into the spotlight with a creation of his own as part of our Staff Brew Series—a program that invites team members to craft a beer that reflects their personality and preferences.
With All Due Respect… — Fruit Beer
Brad brought the heat—literally. This crisp, vibrant lager blends mango purée, habañeros, and a touch of sea salt. It opens fruity and bright, then finishes with a warm, lingering kick—bold, unexpected, and totally Brad.
The original batch was so fiery, Brad worried it might be too hot—but once it hit the carbonator, the flavor mellowed into a bold and balanced brew with just the right amount of kick.
And for the heat-seekers out there? Ask for the “extra hot” version—amped up with a splash of habañero-infused vodka for that next-level burn (+$0.50). It’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s unforgettable.
A Beer with Personality (and a Punchline)

Brad collaborated with Mikey and Ian to bring his vision to life. “We wanted to do something different—something that had real heat but still felt balanced,” Brad explains. “Mango gives it that nice contrast without being overly fruity.”
As for the name? Let’s just say it pairs perfectly with Brad’s sense of humor.
“With all due respect… I had no idea you got experimental surgery to get your balls removed.”
“What?? I said with all due respect ;)”
(Yes, that’s a Talladega Nights reference—and yes, it’s classic Brad.)
Brad describes the beer as perfect for anyone who likes things spicy, a little wild, and full of flavor. “With all due respect,” he says with a grin, “this one might surprise you.”
Come Say Hi
You’ll find Brad behind the bar most days—chatting with guests, sharing a laugh, and making sure everyone’s having a damn good time. His favorite brewery event? Oktoberfest, no contest. And his favorite Blackbird brew? No Si Mexican Lager with Lime and Sea Salt—bold, refreshing, and full of personality, just like Brad himself.
So swing by, raise a glass, and catch Brad in action. And while you’re here, don’t miss your chance to try his signature brew—it’s got all the charm, humor, and spice of the man who made it.
