This May, we’re toasting to more than just great beer—we’re raising a glass to the heart and soul of our community: small businesses and supermoms.
It’s National Small Business Month, and we’re giving a big, foamy shoutout to the incredible local vendors, artisans, and community partners who keep things brewing around here. We’re lucky to call them friends and collaborators.
And while we’re celebrating, let’s not forget the real MVPs: mothers. Whether you’re a mom, have a mom, or know a mom who deserves a cold one, we salute the love, grit, and tireless energy you bring to the world. This month, we honor you with extra cheers, an extra pour, and maybe even a peaceful moment alone (we can dream, right?).
So, what’s on tap? Only a month full of fresh brews and even fresher events—from a 5K-ish fun run to our silent book club, wine tastings, live music, and more. It’s all happening right here, and trust us—you won’t want to miss a single sip.

Wednesday, May 14th (6-8 PM): Wine Tasting with Johnson Brothers in the Taproom – Join us for a midweek wine-down with Emma from Johnson Brothers! She’ll be pouring a curated lineup of delicious wines while sharing tasting notes, pairing tips, and a few fun stories along the way.
Saturday, May 17th (11 AM-5 PM): Run for Your Beer Race Day – Join us for a 5K-ish fun run at Blackbird Brewery, hosted in partnership with the North Carolina Brewery Running Series! Whether you’re walking, jogging, or sprinting, this event is all about having fun and enjoying the community spirit. Registration includes a refreshing craft beer or non-alcoholic beverage, a choice of a collector’s pint glass or Brewery Running Series swag, and access to a post-run celebration with great beer. Tuesday, May 20th (3-8 PM): The Blood Connection Blood Drive – Give back and get a little something in return! Donate blood with The Blood Connection and receive up to $40 in rewards—plus a $5 gift card to Blackbird Brewery as our thanks! Walk-ins welcome, appointments preferred.
Saturday, May 24th (1-3 PM): Candle Crafting Workshop Hosted by Hand.The.Light – Join us in the taproom for a relaxed, hands-on experience where you’ll pour two custom 8oz soy candles using spring-inspired scents and colors. All materials are provided, and expert instructors will guide you every step of the way. Space is limited, so reserve your spot now.
Wednesday, May 28th (6-8 PM): Wine Tasting with Bacco Selections, LLC – Get ready to swirl, sip, and savor—Italian style! Join us for a wine tasting led by the always-entertaining Andrew Mehring. He’ll be pouring a hand-picked lineup of Italian wines that are as full of character as they are flavor.

May 7th (6-9 PM): Silent Book Club at Bird’s Nest at Blackbird – Join us for Silent Book Club on the first Wednesday of each month—a relaxed evening of quiet reading and good company. Bring a book you’re enjoying, sip on a handcrafted cocktail, and settle into a cozy space. After the reading session, stay for a cocktail and enjoy great conversation with fellow book lovers.
May 8th (5-10 PM): Vinyl Night at Bird’s Nest at Blackbird – Join us for an evening of music, community, and expertly crafted cocktails. Held every second Thursday of the month, Vinyl Night invites you to bring your favorite records and enjoy the rich, analog sound of vinyl in great company.
May 10th (4:30-7:30): Farmers Market Hosted by The Family Bee’s-ness LLC – Support local farmers and artisans while sipping great beer! We’re excited to have The Family Bee’s-ness LLC hosting this monthly Farmers Market event, showcasing a fantastic array of local vendors and one-of-a-kind offerings. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover fresh finds, support small businesses, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere—don’t miss it!
May 14th (6-8 PM): Crokinole – Enjoy a lively evening of strategy, challenge, and great company—whether you’re a seasoned pro or just learning the ropes, everyone’s welcome at the table!

Blackbird brews are on tap during special events at Phillips Farms of Cary! Visit us at the Blackbird Beer Shed—your one-stop spot for ice-cold craft brews while you explore the fun park. Explore acres of outdoor activities with rides and games or shop the farmer’s market for local goods and treats. Sip a fresh pint as you enjoy the festivities, then grab a four- or six-pack to take home and keep the good times flowing. Here are the final two spring events to close out the season—and they’re expecting a big turnout for both.
May 10th (10 AM-5 PM): Strawberry Fest & Farmers Market – Celebrate all things strawberry with a festive day of strawberry-themed farmers market vendors, food truck specials, and fresh-picked berries. We’ll be set up in two spots: the farmers market section (free admission) and inside the fun park (ticketed entry). Don’t miss our special Strawberry Kiwi Seltzers, available exclusively for the occasion!
May 17th (10 AM-5 PM): ShropFest & Farmers Market – Get ready for a flavor-packed day as 30+ food trucks serve up their best wings and ribs, competing for a cash prize—with your vote helping decide the winner! Your ticket includes access to ShropFest, Fun Park rides, games, and attractions. Food is sold separately. ShopFest Tickets are $20.
