January might be the slowest month of the year for many businesses, but here at Blackbird Brewery, we’re turning up the heat with exciting events, new brews, and a fantastic initiative to support local breweries during Dry January. We’re proud to join the “Pour Love Into Local” campaign, a collaborative effort led by the Brewers Association and state brewers guilds, including the NC Craft Brewers Guild. This campaign encourages everyone—whether you’re a beer enthusiast or observing Dry January—to visit breweries this winter. Taprooms like ours are community hubs where you can gather with friends, enjoy innovative non-alcoholic options, or savor traditional craft beers. Supporting your local brewery during the slower winter months helps small businesses thrive while offering a warm, welcoming space to connect.
New Brews to Start the Year Right
We’re kicking off January with a lineup of fresh beers that will delight your taste buds:
- Cellar Dweller (Kellerbier) – This unfiltered, old-world lager brewed with Czech Saaz and New Zealand Motueka hops has a unique charm, with flavors passed down through generations. (4.7% ABV)
- S.S. Minnow (Hazy IPA) – Tropical pineapple notes shine in this hazy IPA, featuring Citra and the new Elani hop. Perfect for daydreaming about desert islands. (7.2% ABV)
- Follow The Hazy Brick Road (Hazy Pale Ale) – A lighter, approachable hazy with New Zealand Motueka hops. All the haze you love, but in a smaller package. (5.4% ABV)
- A-O River! (West Coast Pilsner) – Our first take on the West Coast Pils style combines pilsner malt and European noble hops with a dry hop of Mosaic and Motueka. Crisp and complex. (4.8% ABV)
- Sly Fox (Belgian Amber Ale) – Malty, smooth, and crafted with double decoction mashing. This Belgian amber ale is perfect for cozy winter evenings. (5.4% ABV)
Weekday Fun and Special Events
We’ve got something happening every day of the week to keep your spirits bright this January:
- Mondays: Test your knowledge at Hammered Trivia from 7–9 PM.
- Tuesdays: Sing along and win prizes with Music Bingo from 7–9 PM.
- Wednesdays: Treat yourself to Wine Flight Wednesdays and join our Run Club for a midweek pick-me-up. Don’t miss our monthly Crokinole Game Night on January 8th from 6–8 PM.
- Thursdays: Enjoy live music from 6–9 PM
- Silent Book Club: Silent Book Club meets in the Bird’s Nest at Blackbird from 6–9 PM for a relaxing evening of reading and connection. This month, the club will meet on Wednesday, January 15th.
- Additional Live Music: Don’t miss our special live performance by Barry Haddon on Sunday, January 19th (3–6 PM).
The Family Bee’s-ness LLC Farmers Market Update
The outdoor Family Bee’s-ness LLC Pop-Up Farmers Market will take a break for the colder months but will be back in full swing starting in April with all your favorite vendors. In the meantime, Crystal and James from The Family Bee’s-ness LLC are bringing their booth indoors! From January through March, you can find them setting up in the taproom every 2nd* Saturday of the month. This is your chance to stock up on their amazing products and support local, even during the winter season.
*Because of the impending weather this weekend, Crystal and James will be set up in the taproom NEXT Saturday, January 18th from 4:30-7:30 PM in the taproom.
Holiday Hours for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
We’re open from 1-10 PM on Monday, January 20th, in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Whether you’re enjoying some time off or looking for a fun way to spend the day, we’ve got you covered!
Hammered Trivia runs from 7–9 PM, offering a chance to challenge your knowledge, enjoy great vibes, and engage in some friendly, lively competition.
