We recently sat down with Alan McDonald, the first official intern of Blackbird Brewery, to learn where his passion for brewing began, how he landed here with us, and where he plans to go from here. Of course, we asked all about his upcoming brewery: Capeside Brewing in Southport, NC. They plan to have a 7 or 10-barrel brewhouse similar to the size of Blackbird Brewery with a quarter-acre beer garden in the back. When asked what he’s most excited about, he listed creating new beers, being his own boss, and working closely with his partners in the venture.
