Kari Hoover has been a cornerstone of the Wake Forest community—a loving mother, an inspiring teacher, and a friend to so many. Her warmth and kindness has left an indelible mark on so many lives and she was a beloved member of our Blackbird family. For seven years, Kari faced Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) with unmatched strength and courage. Despite enduring surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy, she continued to uplift everyone around her with her vibrant spirit and unwavering determination.
This year, Kari’s battle with cancer took a devastating turn and she passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thanksgiving Day, November 28. As her loved ones process this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy for Kari’s family and friends.
To help ease the financial burden of medical expenses and incidentals, a GoFundMe campaign has been established. Contributions, whether large or small, will help support Kari’s family, specifically her three incredible children, Dylan, Caiden, and Sawyer, as they navigate this challenging journey. Sharing the fundraiser with those who knew and loved Kari is another way to show support during this time. Your generosity, love, and prayers mean the world to Kari and her family.
Celebration of Life: A 90s Prom Night in Memory of Kari
On December 15th, from 6-9pm, Blackbird Brewery will host a heartfelt evening to celebrate the life of Kari Hoover, a treasured member of our community.
